SUP9 Steel is a high quality cold work spring steel, It belong to the high quality high carbon alloy spring steel. Oil quenched and tempered hardness is 28-34 HRC. SUP 9 Spring Steel annealing delivery hardness less than 250HB.

APPLICATIONS

SUP 9 Spring Steel, highlight the advantage is great hardenability, another hot working performance, comprehensive mechanical properties, decarburization resistance is additionally great big cross section of various important spring. For example, automobile, locomotive, large plate spring, spring etc. SUP9 spring is mainly used for heavy vehicles, tractors, industrial production load, stress and the diameter of the larger plate spring and helical spring.

ANNEALING

Slowly heat to 740~770°C and let the steel be completely heated, then allow it to cool slowly in the furnace. The SUP9 steel will get 250HB.

HARDENING

SUP 9 Spring Steel should be heated uniformly to 830~860°C (1526-1580°F) until completely heated through. About 30 min per 25 mm of ruling section is to be provided and then the steels should be immediately quenched in oil.

TEMPERING

Tempering of SUP9 steel is performed at 460-510°C, Soak well at the selected temperature and soak for at least one hour per 25 mm of total thickness.

SIZE RANGE

WIRE ROD – ROUND – AS ROLLED -8 MM to 32 MM DIA (If required we can also supply in spheroidize annealed condition.)

ROUND BARS –  We can provide round bar sizes up to 90mm if required by customer against advanced orders.
